Bed & Bike Curaçao offers the modern budget traveler the opportunity to experience the unique beauty and charm of Curaçao in an affordable and convenient setting. Whether you choose a private or shared room, we offer our guests a clean, comfortable space, a colorful and island-friendly environment, and an “at home” experience.
The first Bed & Bike Curacao was established in 2017 in a former parliament building. It was the first of its kind on the island, but we have now expanded to include two satellite locations in Jan Thiel and Westpunt. This new hybrid accommodation/experience hub is geared not only towards backpackers and hostel guests, but also to travelers looking for a more traditional hotel experience.
All accommodations have air conditioning, free WiFi, and access to the guest kitchens & other communal areas. Here visitors have an opportunity to develop relationships with other guests, share their Curaçao experiences and recount their daily adventures with others.
All guests are invited to rent our bicycles to further explore the island. City bikes are offered in Pietermaai and both mountain & e-bikes are available at Jan Thiel for a small rental fee + deposit. Each location has a restaurant/lounge open to serve food and drinks all day.
When preparing for your trip, you want to make sure that you have all of your logistics lined up before you leave home. Make sure your airline tickets, accommodations, and ground transport are all arranged before you arrive. Buy travel insurance, to help cover any medical expenses in case of an emergency, and make sure that your vaccinations are up to date. Remember that the weather is warm year-round, so pack lots of sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and light, cool clothing. Dutch is the official language, but English and Spanish are also commonly spoken. Finally, the local currency is the Netherlands Antillean guilder (ANG), but the US dollar (USD) is also commonly accepted.
Curaçao is generally safe for tourists, but it is a good idea to keep your valuables and passport locked up in your room, and not to flash money or valuables around while you are out in town. Be particularly careful if you are out for a night of partying. Also be aware of the hot sun and potential for sun burn—the last thing you want is to miss half of your holiday because you are too burned to go to the beach. Finally, hot weather means getting a bit sweaty, especially if you are riding bikes around the island, so remember to stay hydrated.
